If you need a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, leave your credit card at home and head to Milwaukee School of Engineering's (MSOE) free annual Health and Wellness Fair April 7, where a sampling of spa treatments are plentiful. Enjoy a therapeutic sports massage, mini facial and therapeutic foot reflex stimulation while you munch on fresh - and low fat - bakery products.
If free massages, nutritional advice and healthy living screenings aren't enough, this year's event features special giveaways, such as tickets to the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, a stay at the Holiday Inn, floral bouquets, New Balance shoes, exercise balls and more.
The yearly event takes a new spin with offerings including strength and flexibility testing, a golf swing set up assessment, gait analysis, skin care featuring natural botanicals and more. Check out dietary displays about general nutrition and healthy vegetarianism, and find out the truth behind the buzz of low-carb diets. You also can learn more about sexually transmitted diseases, cancer prevention, smoking cessation, drug interaction, natural medicine and forms of exercise such as Tai Chi and NIA.
The heart of the event is the free and low-cost screening tests for bone density, blood pressure, blood sugars, body fat percentage, vision, hearing, kidneys and more. Cholesterol screenings are available at a cost of $17 and pre-registration is required; call 277-7590.
